The Phinney Center 3rd Fl gallery space

Following the opening reception, Mirror Stage is presenting an Open Mic hosted by Miz Floes on Friday, August 12 at 7:30pm, which will also be live-streamed on Mirror Stage’s YouTube channel. Storytellers and spoken word artists are invited to present stories relating to Veterans or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. You do not have to be a veteran to participate. Those currently serving or formerly served in the United States Armed Forces, or those with family members or whose own lives have been directly impacted by PTSD or service in the US military are all invited to tell their story. Stories can reflect any aspect of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, not specifically war-related. Themes, topic and language may not be appropriate for children under 13.

Performers are welcome to attend the art event and sign up to perform when they arrive. Sign ups begin at 6:30pm. Miz Floes is a vocalist, author, producer, playwright, actress, and spoken word artist living in Seattle. She grew up in inner-city Chicago surrounded by violence and poverty, and credits the literary arts for saving her. As a woman, mother, grandmother, and member of the BIPOC community, Miz Floes seeks to transform pain into art and productively release it back into the community. Her newest volume of poetry will be released soon.
