Expand Upon: Health Care

Regrettably, we needed to the performances of Expand Upon: Health Care due to a cast member testing positive for COVID. We take the health of our artists and audiences very seriously, and were unable to re-schedule, due to venue availability and cast health.

Join us as we explore the health care industry through the power of story. For every Expand Upon project, Mirror Stage commissions two new one-act plays from local PNW writers based on a timely theme chosen by YOU. Plays are presented as simply staged readings with a moderated discussion following every performance.

Our 8th round of Expand Upon takes you on a journey through the complexities of the health care industry, and the choices we face. Join Mirror Stage for the relatable and thought-provoking debut of Mutiny in the House of Hadassah by drew david combs and Care: A Fantasia on Excellence by D.A. Navoti, and stay for a lively discussion with the audience and artists.

Mutiny in the House of Hadassah by drew david combs

Poignantly explores the personal choices we must make for our loved ones, often at a considerable financial and emotional cost. Follow four siblings as they play pretend with their ever ailing mother and take on more than anyone can carry. When tough decisions need to be made will they band together and support each other in their time of need, or will the pressure be too much for their family?

Care: A Fantasia on Excellence by D.A. Navoti

Beautifully captures the emotional undercurrents that compel the public to prioritize individual well-being over collective ideals. When a national emergency hits America we take a look at who sits in on decision-making meetings that shape public policies, and what motivates them. Will statistics and reasoning matter when power and self-preservation are at play?
